"My sister's keeper" is my second novel of English version but it is the first novel of English version that I finished reading. I remember that I bought it at last winter vacation and I was complete reading in last December although I did not know lots of medical terms and vocabulary of the book. I pretty like this author whose name is Jodi Picoult because I am reading another novel of her now. The first time I saw this novel at the bookstore but I did not buy it. After a year, I was looking for a novel of English version, so I decided to but it as my collection.
The story is about a young girl who is Anna has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots for her older sister, Kate, who diagnosed leukemia from her childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna is also conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate. All of these make her question who she truly is, so she makes a decision to hire a lawyer to against her parents' plan for donating a kidney to Kate. Due to this decision, her family is facing apart and possibly having fatal consequences for the sister she loves.
I like a way of the author's writing which is separate describing every character's feeling and emotion. I can not say that Anna's mom is selfish because she just does the thing which every mother in the world will do. Anna is also brave enough to fight for her right and to say the truth to her parents. At the end of the story, Anna passes away which is really sad; however, it brings a chance for her family to heal the break and to unify again. It is really a touched and meaningful story for me to think about it.
